• Explain core concepts within Information Systems and AI.
• Identify ongoing scientific discussions related to AI.

• Search for and select relevant scientific literature in Information Systems and AI

• Reflect on the possibilities, limitations, and implications of AI in organizations and in society at large.

Course contents

The course offers an integrated introduction to central concepts in Information Systems, with a particular emphasis on AI and its application in organizational and business contexts. It covers both foundational and contemporary themes in Information Systems research, providing an overview of the field’s theoretical foundations and current state of the art as established in the academic literature, while also developing students’ skills in academic writing and critical literature literacy.

In addition, students engage with philosophical and cognitive science perspectives on intelligence, AI, knowledge, and thinking, addressing fundamental questions such as what intelligence, AI, and knowledge are, and how these concepts relate to Information Systems and AI technologies.
