Simulation of Automated Production, 3 Credits
Simulering av automatiserad produktion, 3 Högskolepoäng
Established: 2025-09-11
Established by: Department of Engineering Science
Applies from: V26
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student should be able to:
Knowledge and understanding
- demonstrate insight into discrete event simulation (DES), including events and how time progresses.
Comptence and skills
- independently construct DES models based on a requirements specification.
- verify and validate DES models, as well as demonstrate understanding of specification, data collection, and analysis for DES.
- model automated production segments and perform simulation experiments.
Entry requirements
General entry requirements and approved result from the following course/courses: RSM700-Robotic Simulation and RBS700-Robotic Systems I or the equivalent.
The forms of assessment of student performance
Individual laboratory work with oral presentation. Individual exam. Individual project with individual written and oral presentation.
Course contents
The course covers the fundamentals of Discrete Event Simulation (DES), focusing on modeling automated production systems and how these can be represented using simulation tools. Based on requirement specifications, DES models are constructed by implementing logic, resources, and flows. The course also includes verification and validation of models, as well as methods for data collection and analysis of simulation results.
