Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the course, the doctorate/licentiate student should be able to independently:
Knowledge and understanding:
- identify, describe and compare different research project management strategies
- explain how research project management relates to research ethics, budget, sustainability, and co-production in different research contexts
Skills and abilities:
- formulate strategies and identify research project management activities and skills needed in research projects
- design a detailed research plan from design to completed project, including work-task distribution, risk management and deliverables
Judgement and approach:
- analyze and problematize research project management in various contexts
- critically review and evaluate research project management plans
- reflect on the needs for competence and skills required for research project management strategies related to research ethics, budget, sustainability and co-production
Entry requirements
Admitted to studies at third-cycle level.
The forms of assessment of student performance
The course is examined by the PhD student individually, in oral and in writing, by presenting a research project management plan, reviewing two other plans, and participating in a reflection seminar . (5 credits)
Course contents
The course offers an orientation about research project management and supports work-integrated learning in PhD education through work with authentic research projects.. The main aim of the course is to provide students with competence and skills needed as future research project management.
The teaching is conducted in the form of lectures, workshops, group discussions and seminars and includes both campus-based and online activities.
