After completing the course, the student should be able to:

- show knowledge of big data systems including fundamental concepts, theories, and industrial applications.
- explain the difference between traditional data and big data.

- show ability to implement big data systems for industrial automation.
Judgement and approach
- reflect on how ethical and legal aspects limits the use of big data systems.
Entry requirements
General entry requirements and approved result from the following course/courses: PFA600-Programming for Automation or the equivalent.
The forms of assessment of student performance
Individual project with written submission and oral presentation.
Course contents
The course covers big data for use in industrial automation. It includes data collection, database storage, database installation, data analysis, data visualization, and controlling physical or simulated automation equipment based on the analysis.
