After completing the course, the student should be able to:
Knowledge and understanding
- demonstrate knowledge of fundamental concepts related to dynamic systems in classical mechanics.
- demonstrate knowledge of basic solution methods for dynamic mechanical systems.
Competence and skills
- independently solve basic problems in dynamic mechanics.
- model and analyze a dynamic mechanical system.
- apply engineering approximations and perform plausibility assessments.

Entry requirements
General entry requirements and approved result from the following course/courses: MEC200 Mechanics, statics 7,5 hp or the equivalent.
The forms of assessment of student performance
Individual written exam. Written assignment in groups with individual assessment.
Course contents
The course covers fundamental concepts in dynamic mechanical systems. Relationships between position, velocity, and acceleration for bodies undergoing rectilinear and curvilinear motion are central topics in the course. In addition, the course addresses work, kinetic energy, potential energy, and conservative forces. Examples of calculation problems include:
- Collisions between bodies, both elastic and inelastic impacts
- Free and forced vibrations
