Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student must be able to:
Knowledge and understanding
- explain the propulsion battery systems for electric vehicles and stationary energy storage, especially with regard to energy and power density and their capacity to deliver energy and power.
- explain the life of the battery system and the influence of external parameters on it.
Competence and skills
- design of battery systems to electrical vehicles and stationary energy storage.
- relate to current research and development work in the field, including ethical aspects and sustainable battery value chain.
Judgement and approach
- relate to the choice of battery systems in terms of risks and incidents.
- evaluate when one's own competence needs to be supplemented.
Entry requirements
Bachelor's degree with a major in electrical engineering or equivalent, including at least 3 HE credits in programming and 15 HE credits in mathematics. English course 6 in the Swedish upper secondary school or equivalent.
The forms of assessment of student performance
Individual laboratory work. Individual written assignment.
Course contents
The course focuses on the design of different storage media for electrical energy in electric vehicles and stationary energy storage. Various properties with an emphasis on ethical aspects and sustainable battery value chain, advantages and disadvantages for each media are presented, as well as calculations regarding, for example, dimensioning and energy density.
