Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student should be able to:
- explain, apply, and evaluate fundamental numerical methods, including systems of linear equations, data fitting, non-linear equations, interpolation, numerical differentiation/integration, ordinary differential equations, and boundary value problems.
- analyze the accuracy, efficiency, and stability of numerical methods, recognizing sources of error.
- solve mathematical problems using numerical methods and implement algorithms in computational tools like MATLAB.
- evaluate and interpret numerical results, considering limitations and error behavior.
- present numerical solutions and findings clearly, both orally and in writing.
Entry requirements
General entry requirements and approved result from the following course/courses: MAT101-Mathematics A and MAT220-Mathematics B or the equivalent.

Laborations with individual written assessment.
Course contents
The course introduces numerical analysis, focusing on fundamental numerical methods for solving systems of equations and differential equations. It also includes a critical evaluation of these methods. MATLAB is used as a tool in the course to solve these problems.
