Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student should be able to show:
- knowledge of CNC machines, their mechanical structure and programming language.
- understanding of the process and its steps for manufacturing preparations using computer aid.
- knowledge of current research in the field.
- ability to create manufacturing preparations using computer aid.
- ability to analyze and evaluate manufacturing preparations from an economic, production technology and work environment perspective.
- ability to identify their need for additional knowledge and to continuously develop their competence in the field.
Entry requirements
General entry requirements and approved result from the following course/courses:
TVB200-Manufacturing II and
GPP100-Introduction to programming with Python and IoT and
RIC100-Technical drawing and introduction to CAD and
SST200-Sensor Technology and
SDT200-Logic Control Engineering and
LOA202-Logistics or the equivalent.
The forms of assessment of student performance
Individual practical computer exam. Individual oral presentation. Individual quiz. Laboratory excersise in group.
Course contents
The course focuses on the steps from a finished CAD model to a finished machined detail. In the course, great emphasis is placed on practical manufacturing preparation exercises with the help of computer support. The topics covered in the course are:
- CNC - machines structure
- Machine programming
- CAM process (Geometry, tool selection, tool paths, verification, simulation and postprocessing)
