Learning outcomes

After completing the course the student should be able to:

• perform design calculations for machine elements.
• demonstrate the ability to design machine elements as parts of machine systems in given or assumed realistic conditions.

Entry requirements

General entry requirements and approved result from the following course/courses:

MTK200-Materials Science and Engineering and

MEL100-Machine element I or the equivalent.

The forms of assessment of student performance

Individual written assignment.

Course contents

The overall aims of this course is develop understanding on the design of machine elements such as spring, shaft, bearings, drive systems, brakes and clutch. This course also includes design calculations along with the theories on the abovementioned topics.
