Learning outcomes
After completing the course the student should be able to:
- show knowledge of different types of machine elements and their function.
- show the ability to analyze a machine design in order to be able to choose the right type and dimension of different machine elements.
- show ability to identify, describe and discuss machine elements in a machine systemsems under given or assumed realistic conditions independently.
Entry requirements
General entry requirements and approved result from the following course/courses:
RIC100-Technical drawing and introduction to CAD or
RTK300-Technical Drawing and CAD or the equivalent.
The forms of assessment of student performance
Individual written assignment.
Course contents
The overall aims of this course are to introduce the subject the design and selection of various common mechanical engineering components and machine elements. The main content of the course is product design and development, mechanisms, tribology, fits and tolerances, and fasteners. This course also includes calculations along with the theories on the abovementioned topics.
