Learning outcomes
The student must, after completing the course, be able to:
Knowledge and understanding
- show understanding for quality assurance systems and quality control methods in welded fabrication.
- explain how residual stresses and distortion occur.
- describe different types of methods for avoiding weld defect formations.
- demonstrate in-depth understanding of the testing principles for welded structures.
Competence and skills
- identify and analyse different factors of weld imperfections/defects.
- present and justify the choice of different methods of measurement, control and recording in welding.
- develop an inspection plan for a specific welding operation.
Entry requirements
General entry requirements and approved result from the following course/courses:
VSK600-Academic Writing and
SJL600-Welding Metallurgy of Iron-based Alloys or the equivalent.
The forms of assessment of student performance
Individual written exam. Individual written assignment. Individual oral presentation.
