Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student shall be able to:
- show understanding of mechaniczed/robotic welding and high energy density welding methods, e.g. Laser welding, Electron beam welding, and Plasma welding
- describe the welding and joining processes of non-metallic material, e.g. plastic, ceramics and composites
- show understanding of welding reparation and related process, e.g. surfacing and spraying
- select suitable welding processes for different applications
- solve problems that occur in welding activities
Entry requirements
General entry requirements and approved result from the following course/courses:
KSP600-Conventional Welding Processes or the equivalent.
The forms of assessment of student performance
Individual written exam.
Course contents
The course will introduce knowledge regarding different advanced welding processes and related topics:
- Laser welding
- Electron beam welding
- Plasma welding
- Cutting, drilling and other edge preparation techniques
- Surfacing and thermal spraying
- Mechanized processes and robotic welding
- Joining processes for plastics
- Joining processes for ceramics and composites
