Upon completion of the course the student should be able to:
Knowledge and understanding
- demonstrate in-depth knowledge of cultural-historical activity theory, its history, foundational concepts and current research
- demonstrate in-depth understanding of the ways in which activity-theoretical research and development are carried out in domains of work and/or learning
Competence and skills
- demonstrate an understanding of how activity theory could be used as an engaged scholarship for impact in the society
Judgement and approach
- demonstrate insight into the possibilities and limitations of activity-theoretical research in their own research project/the subject area of WIL
- take a stand on questions of ethical responsibility, conditions, and consequences that relate to developmental needs and consequences of alternative pathways of learning and transformation in work activities
Entry requirements
The student should fulfil the requirements for acceptance to third-cycle studies.
The forms of assessment of student performance
The student will demonstrate their knowledge by writing a paper including a research design from an activity theory perspective through the theoretical lense of activity theory. The student will also reflect on the design in relation to their own PhD project.
