- identify and apply the characteristics of work-integrated learning and engaged scholarship as a field of study, form, and method in social science
- discuss work-integrated learning and engaged scholarship in relation to theoretical and practical knowledge with a particular focus on sustainable solutions to contemporary societal challenges
Judgement and approach
- value ethical principles, specific to applied research and analysis, in collaboration with various public and private organizations and institutions.

Course contents
The course provides an overall introduction to work-integrated learning (WIL) and engaged scholarship as a field of study, form, and method. The course is particularly interested in how WIL and engaged scholarship can be used in applied research and development work for sustainable societal development in collaboration with society. The course contains an introduction to work-integrated learning (WIL) and engaged scholarship as well as theories and methods in relation to WIL and engaged scholarship in applied social science, with a particular focus on sustainable solutions to contemporary societal challenges. Moreover, perspectives and models for integrating theoretical and practical knowledge and experience through collaboration with organizations and institutions in society are presented. Problem solving and planning, including goals, strategies, stakeholders, and results.
