On completion of the course, the student should be able to:

• describe the central issues and problems in the field of macroeconomics
• explain basic macroeconomic terminology
• describe core macroeconomic theories, and models
• evaluate the impact of economic policy on macroeconomic outcomes
• recall recent pivotal macroeconomic events

Competence and skills

• identify the most suitable theory or model for analyzing a given macroeconomic problem
• utilize macroeconomic theories and models to analyze macroeconomic issues
• assess the effects of economic events and policies on macroeconomic outcomes

Judgment and approach

• analyze fundamental macroeconomic questions
• approach macroeconomic inquiries with a discerning and methodologically rigorous attitude
• analyze and contextualize economic issues as presented in news and political discussions.
